When nothing is bookable
The availability engine is a set calculation. Work down this list in order — the first empty intersection is your answer.
| Check | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Business hours — is the location open that weekday, in its own time zone? | Locations & Hours → Opening hours |
| Staff availability — does the roster cover it, and is the staff member linked to this service and this location? | Staff |
| Location — is the location active? | Locations & Hours |
| Resource — is a resource of the required type, at that location, free? | Resources |
| Staff leave — subtracted from availability | Staff |
| Holidays and exceptions — subtracted | Locations & Hours |
| Existing bookings — live bookings block the slot; finished or cancelled ones do not | Bookings |
| Live holds — someone else is mid-checkout; a hold is released automatically after about ten minutes | — |
| Buffers — duration plus both buffers must fit, not just the duration | Services |
| Lead time and how far ahead — minimum notice and the booking window | Business Profile or the service's own override |
Things that do not look like availability
- A page says "Switched off for this business". The feature is off. Turn it on under Administration → Configuration → Features (you need
booking:admin). - The Booking tab or a sidebar page is missing. Your role does not hold the permission (see Roles and access), or the page's feature is off.
- "No staff to show" on the calendar. The business has no staff yet, or none is linked to this location. Add someone on the Staff screen — or, for a business that books rooms, mark its services as needing a resource and no staff.
- A slot you saw is gone. Another person took a hold or booked it first; the slot grid always reflects the server.
